| Security Issues in Internet Programming (Research Paper) |
| A study was carried out to identity the problems with Internet security,
especially while dealing with server side programming languages. These issues
were unearthed mostly due to added aids provided to the programmers by these
languages to ease the coding process for the developers; but these very
aids in turn could be used otherwise. The highlight of this paper is to
bring out the importance of strongly structured coding which if not adhered
to can easily lead to the abuse of vulnerabilities. The communication of
any web application with the outer world can produce disastrous results
if received inputs are not validated for known patterns. An attempt has
been made to determine how security is breached and to develop possible
solutions to address the underlying security issues. Finally, techniques
for safely extracting values on the basis of known patterns have been proposed.
